  • Hold your children close- they will get you through this.

  • Remember you are stronger than you think. You will overcome anything this journey throws at you.

  • There are a lot of people out there who are currently/have been on the same journey. Reach out to them for support and a safe place to feel heard.

  • Ask at your GP to be referred to your Social Prescriber. They can be helpful in signposting to different groups and activities in your local area.

  • It's easy to act in the moment during these situations. Take your time and think about what you truly want. It is your life and ultimately your decision!!

Helpful things you might choose to do

  • Writing a journal might help you to process your thoughts and feel heard in a safe way.

  • Create yourself a calming bag. This could include essential oils, pictures of happier times, fidget toys or anything else that makes you feel happy.

  • Practice breathing exercises. They will help you stay calm in scary moments  on this journey. Or practice some meditation or yoga.

  • Start some arts and crafts like painting by numbers, adult colouring books or drawing.

  • Have a pamper session. It can be at home using face masks, a hot bubble bath and some fresh PJs.

  • Exercising to get those endorphins pumping. It doesn't have to be a marathon, it could be a walk round the block to get some fresh air.
